Some weeks ago, a 10 year old girl was on her way home, bicycling, from her footbal training. She was murdered by a man she did not know previously. The murder has chocked all of Sweden and the loss for the family is of course terrible.
Now, the State Television (SVT) has decided to send the funeral live in TV. A lutheran priest and member of parliament, Cecilia Wikström tells the newspaper that this is highly inappropriate (see http://www.dagen.se/dagen/Article.aspx?ID=153150 in Swedish). She says, they are not public persons, not used to handling media, and then a funeral shall not be sent´in TV. Of course, she is more than right. People who lost a dear one, and even more under this kind of circumstances, should have an opportunity to take farewell without being sent in TV. Why would the general public want to see this funeral? What purpose does this serve, if not a lust for sensation, the same thing which makes people to want to see reality soaps and things like that? I can only agree to Wikström that the TV company is taking advantage of the grief of a family. A family in grief is vulnerable and they should not even have put the question to them.

Du måste väl syfta på "football" med två "l" på slutet? Men egentligen spelade Engla "succer", i alla fall enligt amerikansk terminologi.
Den andra meningen börjar så här:
"What purpose does thid serve"...
Vad är thid"? Du syftar väl egentligen på ordet "this"?
Ursäkta min klåfingrighet, men jag kunde inte låta bli att försöka korrigera felen (trots att min engelska är ganska begränsad i förhållande till dina kunskaper).
I övrigt var det ett intressant inlägg. Men jag måste ändå rätta dig en gång till. I slutet av artikeln undrar du hur Englas familj lät sig "övertalas" till att sända begravningen.
Det stämmer inte. Det var framför allt Englas mor som ända från början kontaktat SVT för att begravningen ska sändas i tv. Den upplysningen har framgått med tydlighet de senaste veckorna i både tidningar, radio och tv. Därför är märkligt att du verkar ha missat den viktiga sakupplysningen.

Men jag kör engelska inte amerkanska termer, europé som jag är.
