I have been preparing my paper for the NAIITS (North American Institute for Indigenous Theological Studies)conference in S Dakota later this year. This is to be on the theme of reconciliation, I plan to give some background from the Sámi situation. This is about reconciliation between churches and indigenous peoples. It gave an opportunity to think on what reconciliation means in practice, when a country and a church have been mistreating a people for so long time. It cannot stay with words only. It will be interesting to see what other theologians will have to say on this. We have heard about terrible situations in different countries, not so long ago at all. Come to think of the fil "The rabbit fence", where aboriginal kids were hunted down and put at missionary schools. Sadly this is a true story, I have met people who were in that situation as kids. One wonders how Christians could act like that.
As for now, the next Sámi meeting is coming up on thursday and needs some attendance!
After the initial cold, warmth came back. 10 degrees today, no snow left.
